Comfort food is good for the soul. Mashed potatoes NEED gravy. Fries MUST have chili. Bacon is like manna from heaven. In today’s vlog, I take you to a well-known place in Palm Beach where the locals go to eat, get their prescriptions filled, then go home and try out the Viagra. Now that’s what I call comfort.

From my vlog the other day, you know I was heading south for Florida to spend the holiday weekend. I was accompanied on my journey by John Dawe who proved to make an interesting travel companion. Sharing things I normally wouldn’t share on Twitter and posting photos that well, ’nuff said.
Friday night we headed to Fort Lauderdale to Las Olas Blvd where we gorged on Italian and had a few martini’s. This happened to be the night I was propositioned by what some later would tell me was a “cougar.” It made for an interesting evening none the less.
Saturday morning before heading to the Beach Club at the Boca Resort, we stopped for breakfast at one of my favorite dives in Palm Beach. Well, not really a dive, but an institution.
Green’s Pharmacy is located smack dab in the middle of town and takes you back to a simpler time. Nowadays, you can’t find a drug store that serves breakfast and lunch, but at Green’s you can. Sit at the counter or pull up a chair at one of the tables and select from a menu that can only be cooked on a grill and with plenty of grease.
For a pharmacy, this isn’t health food central.
Greasy burgers, chili, French fries, you get it. But it’s goooood.
The atmosphere leaves little to be desired and if you change your mind half way through the ordering process, you’re liable to get a little attitude from your waitress like I did, trying to decide whether I stick with my first choice – pancakes, or go for the special of the day, pulled pork bbq. (Pulled pork, that just seems wrong for Palm Beach, but who am I to judge.)
Thursday as I was in the car being driven from the airport, my doctors office called with the results of my recent blood work. It happens that my cholesterol is at 223 and they were going to call in a prescription. That fit into my plans perfectly. I had a big stack of pancakes dripping with butter and a double order of greasy bacon at Green’s. So while I raised my cholesterol 5 more points, I didn’t worry, my prescription was being filled while I ate.
