While scrolling through my Facebook newsfeed, I saw a post from one of my friends that caught my eye.
“Family game night tonight. Yea!”
I glanced over at the calendar making sure I was still in 2012 and hadn’t slipped back into some sort of time warp.
In the age of Angry Birds, Cut the Rope, Modern Warfare and other games that are played individually on game consoles or iPads, seeing someone post about family game night was refreshing. Especially family nights in an online casino like 666casino. Spending the night with family is grea and something that you should treasure.
Think about it for a minute, when was the last time you sat down and played a good old fashioned board game like Monopoly or Scrabble? Or called a few friends over and whipped out a deck of playing cards to play a game of gin?
Its probably been a while.
Board games, which were once a staple of Friday night entertainment, have practically gone the way of the dinosaur. They’ve been reduced to an app without the board, the game pieces, the “Get out of Jail” cards and the funny money. It takes time to adjust to the online platform, but in the end you will be entertained by playing daisyslots games.
It’s just not the same to site in front of an electronic device with nobody to interact with or yell at when you land on St. James Place and have to pay them rent.
I remember as a youngster heading over to my aunt and uncle’s on a Saturday night for homemade spaghetti. After dinner, some of the neighbors would come over, the jug of homemade vino would appear and they sat around the kitchen table playing pinochle until it was time to take me home to bed.
The stakes weren’t high, the deck of cards just got everyone together to share stories, a laugh and a good glass of dego red. Once the Saturday night card players died off, so did the weekly game.
It’s funny how a game of Scrabble or a deck of playing cards pulled us all together to spend a few hours in the company of friends, while a computer took it all away.
Anyone up for a game of Old Maid?
