I first started blogging in March 2009 with a post called “Animals Never Forget.” Pretty fitting for a guy who’s career in eCommerce started with a couple of ferrets and a love for all things furry.
Since that first post, I’ve written about many things – the political corruption in northeast Pennsylvania that landed three judges in jail, got a sitting judge voted off the island and landed dozens of other political hacks in the hoosegow for trading favors for cash.
I wrote about the scalping borrowers get from the payday loan company Western Sky Financial who charges exorbitant interest rates on loans and binds those who don’t read the fine print to laws of an Indian nation, not the United States.
The Western Sky post continues to be the most popular and most commented on only to be followed by my post about the Dirty Girl Mud Run and how the event rakes in a lot of money for the organizers but leaves the promoted charity loose change.
I try my hardest to blog about something each day. Whether it be sharing some advice on running an eCommerce store, complaining about lousy service I received somewhere or rambling on about what makes life so amusing.
I like to think that each post I crank out is worth the minute it takes to read it, but I’ll admit, some are real dogs. I won’t list which ones, I’ll let you judge for yourself.
Sometimes, I tack on some questions I get from my readers at the end of a post and provide a reasonable answer. Most are usually eCommerce or marketing related, but I occasionally get the “Why are you fat?” question. The answer is always the same, “Because I eat a lot. Now go fornicate with yourself so I can get back to work.”
Some posts illicit some snarky comments from people I’ve offended over the years in one way or another, but I’ve got leather-like skin from baking in the sun every day, so I can handle them. I’ve got one follower who emails me nude pictures at least once a month and says, “blog about this.”
One day I will. I promise. I’m just waiting for the right picture, so please send more.
Who knows if what I write illicts a smile, results in a “that happened to me,” or helps someone run their eCommerce store better. I’m just happy cranking about about 500 words that kill about a half hour of my day.
Three years and 355 posts later the folks at NEPA Blogs picked little old me as their Blog of the Week. For those of you who don’t know what a NEPA is, it’s the abbreviation for Northeastern Pennsylvania – the area I co-founded two businesses in and used to call home. When I get a hankering for some Old Forge pizza or want to be referred to as “youse guys” I’ll hop a plane and pay a visit.
Being selected as the Blog of the Week also puts this noble work of wordsmithing on “the channel 28” in NEPA speak. For the rest of us, it means the local NBC affiliate, WBRE, where Shannon from NEPA Blogs will present my site to the viewers during this afternoon’s 4pm newscast.
Thanks to Shannon, Michelle and Harold and all the other NEPA bloggers out there for recognizing my little piece of cyberspace, as cranky as it may get at times, as the Blog of the Week. It’s much appreciated.
Now who wants a cold glass of Gibbons?
