It was National Onion Ring Day and I was looking for someplace to go to grab some of the greasy rings of oniony goodness. I headed over to Atlantic Avenue in Delray Beach with a hankering for a hamburger and it was a toss-up between Park Tavern on the south side of the ave or The Office on the north side. I settled on The Office, a joint with indoor-outdoor seating and a large bar.
The Office is owned by the same restaurateur who owns the Italian pizza/pasta house, Vic & Angelo’s across the street and up I-95 in Palm Beach Gardens.
The last time I was at The Office it was several years ago when it first opened and I wasn’t impressed. It was also under different ownership at the time. The first thing I noticed was the menu prices were brought back down to Earth, as I recall they were substantially higher during my first visit.
I grabbed a seat at the bar, ordered a filthy martini, the Prime Office Cheeseburger and asked for onion rings to replace the included fries. There’s a $3 upcharge to do that, but being that this was a day devoted to onion rings, I sprung.
Have to say… one of the best burgers I’ve had and the onion rings were good too! In fact, I have made several more visits since.
