Ask any Disney fan what ride is the most difficult to get a FastPass+ for in the Magic Kingdom and without a doubt, they’ll tell you it’s the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.
The family-friendly roller coaster opened in 2014 on a spot once home to the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: Submarine Voyage following the renovation of Fantasyland that began in 2010. That renovation also saw the removal of Snow White’s Scary Adventure. (Both of these removed rides are still operating at Disneyland in California.)
While the original Snow White attraction is no longer found at Walt Disney World, she lives on in this particular ride as riders board mine cars to travel deep within the Dwarfs mine where Doc, Happy, Sleepy, Grumpy and Bashful are mining gems. Many of the original animatronics from Snow White’s Scary Adventure were repurposed and reused in the Mine Train ride.
The coaster travels indoors and out at a max speed of 34 mph. It lasts a little under three minutes and holds 20 riders per train.
With its success at the Magic Kingdom, Disney built a second Seven Dwarfs Mine Train ride at Shanghai Disneyland that opened in 2016.
If you’re not able to get a FastPass+ to ride, you can always go standby, but be prepared to wait, as it usually has the longest wait time in the park. If you’re willing to wait an hour or more for a 3-minute ride, go for it. If not, check out my onboard 4k video of the ride below and take a virtual trip instead.
