Hazleton [PA] mayor Lou Barletta was seen chatting it up with Lackawanna County District Attorney Andy Jarobla at Arcaro & Gennell‘s in Old Forge tonight. Barletta, who is running for Congress, kicked off his campaign at the popular pizza place with a free rally. Based on the parking situation, I’m not sure if the cars belonged to the people attending the rally or getting their ashes (today is Ash Wednesday) at the church behind the restaurant.
Please note: I despise politicians and have a hard time being in the same room with them. I definitely was not at Barletta’s rally, but was at the restaurant enjoying a few martinis…. and some pizza.
With his no-holes-barred stance on illegal immigration, Barletta was a frequent guest on Lou Dobbs‘ program on CNN where the two routinely kissed each other’s collective asses. This isn’t the first time Barletta has run for Congress and probably won’t be the last. Known as the “one trick pony politician,” Lou’s previous runs centered around his immigration stance, but his website now lists “The Second Amendment,” “Right to Life,” “Health Care,” “National Security,” “Social Security” and “Spending” on his list of issues he resolves to address should he be elected.
Barletta is running (once again) against congressman for life, Paul Kanjorski as is Corey O’Brien. Boys, let me give you a little advice. Save your time, effort and money. Neither one of you is going win Paulie’s seat – unless he drops dead. Whether we like it or not, Kanjorski ain’t goin’ anywhere. The only guy who’s going to beat Paul is the grim reaper. Once that happens you can all the pizza parties you want. Until then, don’t quit your day jobs.
