Yes, it’s a chain.
No, it’s not as good (or as pricey) as Abe & Louie’s or New York Prime in Boca Raton.
But, if you’re looking for a solid steakhouse experience, you can’t beat Ruth’s.
Ruth’s Chris is one of those places I frequent a few times a month because I always get a good, consistent meal at a fair price and the service is always top notch. There are a few things about Ruth’s I don’t like, and the main one happens to be a signature of the restaurant – the melted butter and sizzling plate the steak is served on.
When I order, I always tell the server “no butter, cold plate.” As someone who eats his filet mignon rare, I don’t want the sizzling plate cooking my meat any more than it needs to be heated.
Since it’s a chain, you pretty much can walk into any Ruth’s Chris and know exactly what to expect, which is why I always seek one out when I’m traveling if a locally recommended steakhouse isn’t nearby.
Some of my recommended items on the appetizer menu: ahi tuna, spicy calamari and the veal ravioli. As far as steak is concerned, you can’t go wrong with a filet or a ribeye, but if they have a veal chop available, I’ll gravitate towards that. A fire roasted corn side dish has just been added to the summer menu and that’s fantastic… if you like corn.
Ruth’s Chris offers a “Ruth’s Classics” menu that changes every now and then. With a price starting at $43.95, you can get a three course meal consisting of a soup or salad, special entree selection, personal side and dessert. For the price, you can’t beat the deal and if you were to tabulate what those would cost ala carte, you can’t go wrong.

On a side note, my father celebrated his 90th birthday on July 23, 2015. I flew up to Pennsylvania and we had a family dinner at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse inside the Mohegan Sun Casino in Wilkes-Barre.
