Though their headquarters is moving from downtown Wilkes-Barre to Shavertown, Solid Cactus Company President Scott Sanfilippo and CEO Joe Palko had a good year.
The e-commerce business Solid Cactus brought 130 jobs to the Wilkes-Barre area, which increased from 72 employees in 2006. With its continued growth, the business is on track to have up to 325 employees by 2009.
This summer Inc. magazine put Solid Cactus at no. 255 of the 500 fastest-growing private companies in the country. It was also named on the list of the Best Places to Work in PA in 2007. The business even captured national-level clients this year.
Solid Cactus has shown it is committed to staying in the area and reusing old buildings. In Wilkes-Barre, Solid Cactus is located in the Jewelcor Building, and its new office is in the Westmoreland Business Center, where the company signed a five-year lease. Sanfilippo and Palko’s success can hopefully drive home a message to other businesses: if a smaller business can have this much success in the Wyoming Valley, then others can as well.
