Solid Cactus®, an award-winning web design company and total solutions e-commerce provider, announces the creation of the “Solid Cactus Cares Fund.” Solid Cactus employees, clients and business partners will be encouraged to donate to worthy charities. Solid Cactus will then match donations that employees have payroll deducted dollar for dollar. The fund will be administered by the Luzerne Foundation.
“We believe in giving back,” said Solid Cactus President Scott Sanfilippo. “Co-founder Joe Palko and I have found throughout the years that the more we have asked people to support something truly worthy, they gave and gave fast. I once raised over $16,000 in just two hours, on my radio show, for an injured and abandoned dog! In this case, we believe that with Solid Cactus matching employee donations, our people, clients and partners will see real sums being raised and be even more generous.”
At each quarterly staff meeting, Solid Cactus employees will vote on the charities where they want their contributions to go. The charity or charities with the most votes will receive that quarter’s donations. Solid Cactus will repeat the process each following quarter. “This gets our people involved in the fund-raising and in deciding which direction those funds will take,” said Sanfilippo. “Plus, we’ll all see a sizeable contribution go someplace worthy every quarter. I think this makes people even more generous.”
Solid Cactus is kicking off its fund raising with a pizza party on Friday, November 2nd. The pizza, from Sizzle Pi, will be on sale for $1/slice. All the monies collected will start the “Solid Cactus Cares Fund.” Solid Cactus, Sanfilippo and Palko will then write checks to match whatever funds are raised from the pizza party. “We believe in bribery through food,” laughed Sanfilippo. The pizza party starts at noon.
